Lean Six Sigma assignment Distinguish between Lean thinking (and tools) and a Six Sigma mindset (and various methodologies).

Lean tools implementation is done mainly to remove the waste in the process. The tools help in identification of the waste and thereby enable the organization in establishing better manufacturing process.  There are different Lean tools for meeting the requirements. If the company requires on-demand solution where the manufacture of the product after the customer receipt then the Just-In-Time lean is best suited.  The lean tools are mainly customer centric. On the other hand, Lean Six Sigma assignments are a machanism that utilizes statistics followed by the data analysis for evaluating errors and defects. The main methods are the DMAIC and DMADV. DMAIC is method that is data driven and enhance the products that are existing for better satisfaction of customers (Raja Sreedharan, Vijaya & Raju 2018). However, DMADV is used for design or redesign of various processes or service delivery.

Explain and apply the Lean Six Sigma theories behind cost opportunities for process improvement.

Lean and Six Sigma are best partners when it comes to process improvement. Both reinforces the concept of regular and break through enhancement.  Lean helps in elimination of waste and lead to outflow thereby leading to regular improvement. Lean’s Kaizen initiative helps six sigma in streamlining the process and empowering workers with team work and skills of problem solving (Shokri 2017). On the other hand, six sigma lessens the variability as well as enhancement of the process capabilities.  The Lean Six Sigma assignment needs improvement in terms of breakthroughs thereby leading to sophisticated statistical tools for solving the problems that are complex and uncovered by the lean system. This creates strategies for implementation of lean in service industries. Moreover, application of lean concept helps in reducing the material cost, cost of energy and other compliance cost with other risks that are unnecessary for workers health and safety.

Synthesize scholarly research pertaining to Lean Six Sigma process improvement opportunities associated with the concept of productivity.

Lean Six Sigma is a method that enables elimination of waste and inefficiencies leading to improvement in the productivity and quality (Shokri 2017). The methodology uses different tools that enables analysis and enhancement of the process that leads to productivity. For maximizing productivity, there are five Lean Six Sigma tools that is used. Value stream mapping is a lean tool that enables seeing and understanding

Value stream mapping (VSM) is a Lean tool that helps to see and understand all the activities required to bring a product/service from customer request to fulfillment or completion. It helps in looking for opportunities to eliminate or reduce waste in the process (Lindsay 2005)

The cause and effect diagram helps the organizational teams for identification of the potential causes for the defined issues. Even known as the Ishikawa diagram it helps in categorizing causes in major categories.

The five whys is a simple problem solving tool identified on this Lean Six Sigma assignment that helps in getting the root of the problem in a quick manner. The idea is each time it is asked why a problem occurred, one moves closer to the identification of the root cause

Explain quality as it relates to variation reduction opportunities useful in business environments.

Customer satisfaction ascertains the loyalty of the customer, the purchase intention and the revenue stream of the company. Product quality enhances the satisfaction of the customer. Reducing variation in the key features of the product followed by the processes of manufacturing is the primary aim of decreasing the defects of the product and enhancing the quality of the product. Moreover, improved product quality might lead to decline in the cost of production. The quality of the product manufactured is defined in terms of construction as well as reliability, the suitability for the desired purpose and the extent to which it meet the needs of the customers. Each of the quality objectives is aided through process of manufacturing that projects the attributes of the product needed to create a customer value (Alexander, Antony & Rodgers 2019). The quality assurance department of the company works so that the variability in the process of productions is reduced so that the manufactured product features are in tune with the specifications with the help of inspections and evaluation.

Reconcile philosophical assumptions and course concepts with a biblical worldview.

Philosophically lean stresses upon on creating value for the customers through removal of the product linked preconceptions and notions from the companies.  For instance using Jesus to be Six Sigma Life coach the proverb 4:25 can be looked at. Let the eyes look straight ahead and the eyelids look right before you meaning that eyes should focus on the plan ahead and solve the problem (Lindsay 2005). As per the Lean Six Sigma assignment findings, lean thinking is more than the employment of specific tools or certain steps in the process of business. It is all regarding alterations how you witness your business and recognize the operations.

Apply logistics systems approaches to effectively improve the firm’s total costs and customer service.

The goal of any business is to exchange the goods and services for the purpose of money and trade. Logistic system approaches is the approach that helps the goods and services in completing the transactions. Logistic system approaches focuses on the goods movement but the effect goes further. Success in logistics enables enhanced efficiency, lowering the cost, higher rate of production and better control of inventory. This leads to supplier satisfaction and overall customer care. The order management system is the initial point of logistics system that links to customers by management of receipt of order and placement. It helps in providing the location of the product in the supply network followed by the estimated time delivery. Automating the function of order proceeding has many benefits. The customer service tends to increase through the increment in speed as well as accuracy. By the increment in the speed of the process of order placement, the order cycle time can be lessened meaning the customers are not needed to hold higher safety stock (Rodgers, Antony & Gupta 2019).

In this Lean Six Sigma assignment scenario, when the order is received by the customer the system is able to inform customers regarding the status of the order that includes the availability of the item, date of shipping, and availability of credit. If the order is allocated from inventory it is updated in an automatic manner and hence helps the company in terms of production planning which ultimately leads to improvement of the total cost
