Answer

Introduction
The study of tesla environmental sustainability signifies that the use of electric cars has a heating effect on the environment and one of the major factors behind causing pollution. The company that will be studied in respect of this aspect is Tesla, International brand producing electric cars. The company has claimed that they are environmentally conscious and that the traditional cars produced by them are sustainable. However, this has been disputed because it is believed that electric cars produced by this company are causing tremendous environmental degradation. The company has claimed that the electric cars which are produced by them do not cause any air pollution as they have reduced impact on environment. There is lesser dependence in petroleum and as a result of that greenhouse emissions are stopped by them which in turn is not leaving any environmental footprints.

It has been noted that electric cars produced have a heavy dependence on rare earth elements as well as critical metals that are causing increased emission and thereby affecting the environment. The carbon dioxide emitted from these electric cars produced by Tesla have combined pollution is more than what a wildfire would produce. Hence it can be said that though the company has heavy reliance on sustainability, we are causing environmental degradation (Claudyet al. 2016).

2. Discussion:
Product-related issues in Tesla vehicles which are against sustainable development:
According to Tesla environmental sustainability, it is world’s most advanced and expressive company. They are constantly fighting against the environment changes by producing electric generated cars. In the year of 2016, Tesla got “Solar City” and enlarged its product. It includes solar tiles of rooftop, solar boards, and battery storage (Akakpoet al. 2019). Product-related issues of Tesla are hereby mentioned below.

Lithium-ion Batteries: In Tesla Company, lithium-ion batteries play a major role. Tesla’s electric cars are getting charged from those batteries. The ecological impact of their lithium-ion batteries must diminish and observed carefully. The reason for this is that Tesla focused on environmental changes. They have to recycle or dispose it when battery power’s potential degrades or else it is going to harm the environment. However, this system or incident is against sustainability.

They may not be the Best Quality Vehicles: If any Tesla electric car damaged, then it will be difficult for the customer to repair the car. The reason for this is that repairing cost is too high as per the Tesla environmental sustainability. A customer could not afford this for the over-priced of this maintenance (Naoret al. 2018). Side by side, Tesla manufacturer does not give any warranty or any insurance for their car. It is one of the major problems of Tesla which is suffered by the customers.

How Tesla environmental sustainability will affect the Customer’s Pocket by maintenance costs?
According to Tesla, it does not require petrol or diesel costs, oil purifier tools, replacements of a spark plug. But their excessive cost of types of machinery creates an issue for the customers. The costs can differ in a different type of model of the car and also based on the year.

Power Steering Failure is a Major Issue: Tesla environmental sustainability inclined to carry technological belongings including modern devices. Some of new models of Tesla face some issues with the steering controls. When whirling, it is locking up automatically. It is also one of the major problems for customers. It causes accidental situation while customer is driving the car.

Tesla Service Centers have Slow Turnaround: Tesla Company manufactures an electric car. There is a chance that Tesla management does not have enough information about electric equipment and technology along with customer service. Technicians are not accustomed to the issues of the vehicles (Schaltegger et al. 2016). The reason behind this is Tesla operates a car as a computer than the old motor car.

Tesla Owners are Beta Testers
The new proprietors of Tesla Company have faced different types of difficulties like whether their cars ready for commercialization or not. Prior to this, some proprietors of the Tesla are being paid “beta testers”. It was not a bad deal at that time. Though Tesla environmental sustainability makes good vehicles they are just at their primary stages of progression.

Blind-Spot Detection has an Illogical Placement: In Tesla car, it has the blind-spot detected tools and it can be considered as a very useful and attractive concept. But there has also some problems regarding this blind-spot tools. It does not alert a car driver about the risk factor on the mirror which is attached outside of the car. Most of the cars have two side-view mirrors. The car manufacturer operates some sign popups on the touchscreen of the cars (Musoner and Cagle 2019). However most of the drivers do not notice that due to lack of knowledge or expertise.

The Truck is not Convenient for everyone: According to the Tesla environmental sustainability, the best neutral portions of the car are the trunk. It is very high in length for those people who have average height. According to the owners of the Model 3 of Tesla have found the trunk is open straight up nearly ninety-degree position. For loading purpose, it is great but individuals with shorter heights may face some difficulties to get into the truck.

Model 3 Owners want Better Tires: In terms of the Tesla vehicles, a common fault of Model 3 is the disagreeable fact which comes with all-situation tires. Most of the proprietors do not like this due to the reason that they want strong and better tires which can perform very well. Though it is a smooth drive it would be better and give better performance.

Low-Quality Door Handles of Model 3
The most important part of the Tesla electric car is their door handles quality. The handles have a metallic finishing. In Model 3 handles, the metals of these handles are very thin and it looks like to be made with low-grade tools but not like that actually. So, this is not official fault but it can call a highlighting issue.

Solutions: Using Big Data in Improving Tesla environmental sustainability: The term big data signifies a large amount of data that includes not only structured but also unstructured data. However, the amount of data is not important as the important thing is how companies use the data they collect through big data. Tesla management can use big data to acquire environment sustainability in their operations. Some strategies that Tesla can follow under the process of big data are hereby mentioned below.

Big data is highly capable of helping business organizations to understand the impact of their operations on environment. Some of those impacts can be internal impacts and some of those impacts can be external impacts; out of the control of the companies. Previously, acquiring this information was extremely tough as previously this information was gathered from different locations, sites and by using different formats, manually (Ahmad and Khan 2019). However, now, through big data it is possible to acquire data and monitor even things that are out of control such as sourcing of raw materials and product disposal. Tesla by using big data can easily identify for manufacturing lithium-ion batteries, form where the raw materials are coming and whether those raw materials are sourced in a sustainable manner or not. Even they can identify by using what method their products are getting disposed (Colaneret al. 2018). If Tesla finds that its products are getting disposed in an unsustainable manner, then they can recycle their disposed vehicles to increase their product life cycle and recycling is always a major sustainable idea.

Big data is also highly useful for the purpose of evaluating environmental risks. For example, there is an Aqueduct tool that is a water-risk evaluation tool created by World Resources Institute for the purpose of identifying and calculating water risks anywhere around the world (Walraveet al. 2018). Tesla environmental sustainability can collaborate with big data service provider companies to create such a tool that will identify and provide information about sustainability of its vehicles and the parts that are used in their vehicles (Ahmad and Khan 2019). For example, power steering is a problem for some of the Tesla vehicles and big data can easily collect information about the core reasons that are causing this problem. On the other hand, big data will also help Tesla management to acquire information about customers. It was found that Tesla customer service team does not have ample amount of information about electric vehicles and thus they fail to provide accurate services (Manna 2017). Big data can collect information on the places where employees are lagging and through that information Tesla management can deliver training and development programs to its employees.

Big data’s other primary contribution is its capability to optimize the use of resources. For example, Italian tire company Pirelli is using SAP’s big data management system named as HANA for the purpose of improving its inventory (Ahmad and Khan 2019). Pirelli has also collected data through the sensors located in its tires to reduce amount of waste, increasing profits and reducing defects of the tires. As a result, Pirelli is making sure lesser amount of defective tires is manufactured and lesser amount of defective tires goes for landfill (Colaneret al. 2018). By doing this Pirelli is contributing to the environment. Tesla can follow this big data tool to ensure it manufactures tires that are not for all-purpose use but are stronger and better as per demand of the customers and vendors.

Tesla, in order to become environmentally sustainable, will have to develop policies in its workplaces. Again, big data can help Tesla in this scenario too. Big data can help Tesla management to integrate required government policies through sensor technology and by adopting real-time reporting of environmental quality data (Pow 2019). This data can be used by Tesla management to monitor the emissions of large facilities operated by Tesla. Lithium-ion batteries of Tesla are manufactured by Panasonic and therefore, Tesla management can collaborate with Panasonic and use big data to ensure in facilities where lithium-ion batteries are manufactured are environmentally sustainable. .

Conclusion
From the entire report, it is found that Tesla’s claims of becoming one of the most environmentally sustainable company in terms of their electric vehicles are not totally correct. The organization is dealing with several issues related to Tesla environmental sustainability. As a result, in this report as a solution, big data is recommended for Tesla. It is recommended that by big data Tesla will be able to collect every bit of information about every activity that is going on in the organization and even in Panasonic’s facility where lithium-ion batteries are manufactured. On the other hand, through big data Tesla will also be able to collect information about its vehicles and the process through which its vehicles are dumped.

From the report, it is also found that big data will be highly useful for Tesla environmental sustainability to create its own environmental policy that every department of the organization will follow. It will also help Tesla to ensure presence of environmental sustainability in its workplaces for longer term. Due to these many benefits that big data will provide Tesla, for now, it can be concluded that big data is the only option for Tesla to actually become an organization will complete environmental sustainability.
