b. Group the identified stakeholders in terms of internal and external stakeholders and provide the power-interest matrix
c. Develop a quality management plan showing 3 quality management tools that you will use with justifications
d. Develop a procument management plan where you will choose a contract type and delivery system with justification
Q2 The Youth Rugby project team has identified the following potential risks to their project:
a. Referees failing to show up at designated games
b. Fighting between teams
c. Pivotal error committed by a referee that determines the outcome of a game
d. Abusive behavior along the sidelines by parents
e. Inadequate parking
f. Not enough teams sign up for different age brackets
g. Serious injury
How would you recommend that they respond (i.e. avoid, accept …) to these risks and why?
Q3 Saint Pedro Health Centre is considering opening a new health clinic in the university village. It has three different models, each with a different service capacity. The health center estimates that the average number of customers per hour will be 100, 120, or 140. You are acting as a consultant to Saint Pedro Health Centre to advise on selecting the best model for its venture. Which model you suggest them to choose based on EMV? The payoff table for the new health clinic is given in the following table.
In this project management assignment, we will be proposing solutions of three different scenarios. The first scenario will be about a construction project of an international airport in Western Sydney. The second scenario will be about a youth rugby project team, and the third scenario will be about Saint Pedro health Center. All of the scenarios have different problems, and the report will be focused on finding the answers to those specific questions from the perspective of a project manager. All of the decisions made will be backed by scientific evidence, and eventually, everything will be summed up in conclusion.
New International Airport Construction
Identify the major groups of Stakeholders that are likely to affect the success of this project. There can be a number of stakeholders that could be affecting the success of the project. The group of the stakeholders which could be affecting the project's success is given as follows:
Customers are the number one group of stakeholders when it comes to any project. Especially in case of a project like the construction of the new international airport, customers would be the ones who would be benefitting the most because of the service. It could even be argued that the business would cease to exist without the customers. They have a direct stake in the quality of the product or services being offered and the value they are receiving I return of the money they are spending(Agnew et al., 2013).
Employees have a direct stake as well because they would be working in the airport to support themselves. Their stake in the system consists of the employment income.
Investors are yet another important stakeholder because they want financial returns from the project. If they withdraw their investments due to some reason, the project will stop immediately.
Suppliers and Vendors
Suppliers and vendors are separate entities or small business that provides the material or services to large organizations that they need for proper working and carrying out their activities. In some cases, the vendors and suppliers are directly involved in the operational step, and their health and safety are on the line.
Communities are the biggest stakeholder in any business. Whenever a plant is built around a community, it is highly affected, as the building of plants leads to job creation, economic improvement, and creation of health and safety facilities in the area. The big companies have the potential to alter the environment, so, big plants come with major health impacts on the community(Ackermann & Eden, 2011).
The government is a major stakeholder as the company contributes to the gross domestic products that the government takes benefits from. The government also takes benefit from the income taxes they incur upon the company, its employees, and the expenditures of the company.
Group the identified stakeholders in terms of internal and external stakeholders
The internal stakeholders of a business are the entities that are present within the business i.e., any internal factor that impacts the business is considered an internal stakeholder. This generally includes the employees of the company that are working for it as their working efficiency impacts the working of the company. It also includes the upper management of the company i.e., the managerial staff and the board of directors, as they are responsible for devising an efficient business strategy and plans for the business and look out for any potential risks. The whole company is dependent on them and makes them one of the most critical internal stakeholders(Agnew et al., 2013).
The external stakeholders are those entities that are not a part of the organization but are outside entities that are impacted by the decisions and working of the business, or the business is impacted by them. This includes the customers who are interested in the products or services that the company is offering. It includes the vendors and suppliers who supply material and services for the efficient working of the company. And it includes the government whose decisions and policies impact the business(Voinov et al., 2016).
Develop a quality management plan showing three quality management tools that you will use with justifications The quality management plan is designed to ensure the quality of products and services being offered by the company. It determines the quality procedure and policies for everything related to product and services and determines who is responsible for which activity(Savage et al., 2011). The purpose of quality management is to provide guidance to the management on how to ensure the quality of the product. It also gives surety to customers that the product they will get will be of good quality(Stevenson, 2017). The quality management tools that I would use to ensure quality at the company are flowchartchecks sheet and cause and effect diagram. The flow chart gives an insight into the whole process line of the company. It tells when to do a process and what to do when something goes wrong. It ensures that the whole process goes according to the set standards. So, I would use it. The second would be the check sheet. A check sheet is used to collect data in a company. It can help in keeping track of incidents happening in an organization. As an example, the check sheet can allow recording the questions being asked by employees. The human resource department can keep track of how many times this question was asked and then share the information with the employees to reduce the number of questions. The final tool will be the use of the cause and effect diagram. This diagram helps to keep in check the problems that may appear in the process lineup. The next thing is to look for the causes of these problems and brainstorming potential solutions.
Develop a procurement management plan where you will choose a contract type and delivery system with justification A procurement management plan is developed to deal with suppliers and vendors. To make a procurement plan first, I would make a list of things that are required by the company. The next thing is to decide what type of agreement I will have with the supplier. I would make a list of all the things that could go wrong in this process and then add their potential solutions. The cost of the project would be calculated, and a request for a proposal of bids will be given out. I would make a list of potential problems in the project; after that, the list of proposals i.e., bids, would be analyzed. Decision criteria would be selected, and a contract would be signed with the most suitable vendor(Bienhaus & Haddud, 2018).
The Youth Rugby Project
Referees failing to show up at designated games
The rugby project should avoid these sorts of issues. A game cannot take place without a referee, so the surety that the referee will show up at the time of the match is very critical. The committee of the rugby project should sign a contract with the referee and bound them to come on time. If a referee doesn't show up on time, then he should be held accountable for it, and it this goes on, then they should look for other referees.
Fighting between teams<
Having a fight broke up in the youth team is a usual thing. This the early age of brain development and proper bringing up is necessary. The club should avoid these fights and stop their youth players from getting involved in a fight. If the youth players are not stopped from fighting, then they consider fighting acceptable and would be involved in more activities of this sort.
A pivotal error committed by a referee that determines the outcome of a game
The project should accept risks like that. Every man can make mistakes, and in the tough environment of the playing field, the chances of making a mistake go even further. The mistake could be made by anyone on playing field i.e., player and referee. So, the project should ask the clubs to show the sportsman spirit and accept these risks.
Abusive behavior along the sidelines by the parents
This is highly unacceptable. The committee should not support anything of this sort. This is a match between two youth clubs, and no one's life is online. The abusive behavior of parents has a detrimental impact on the psychology of the kids. So, this sort of activity should be stopped firmly. The club should have a firm policy about it; if someone is found involved in abusive activities, he should be gently told to stop it, but if they continue it, then they should be barred from the playing ground.
The project will have to bear with it and accept this risk. Most of the kids will be coming with their parents, so parking basically won't be an issue in normal days. But on critical matches, there may be more people visiting, and the problem can arise then. So, they have to bear with the parking problem for just once in a while. So, they need to accept it.
Not enough teams signup for different age brackets
This can be a problem, but they need to be patient and accept this for the time being. The rugby project for the youth is just a new plan, and maybe most of the people won't be interested in it. So, the committee needs to accept these sorts of risks and play the tournament with the teams that have registered for it. A successful event would mean that there would be more interest the next time.
A serious injury at this age would be life-threatening, and these sorts of risks should be avoided. Any serious injury would mean permanent damage to the player and can ruin his life. So the committee needs to work on improving the playing conditions and should promote the concept of fair play in the rugby players.
Saint Pedro Health Center
The saint Pedro health clinic is opening up a new health clinic in the university village. The averagenumber of customers which are expected per hour is given as 100, 120, 140. Being the consultant of the health clinic and based on the models provided by the payoff table of the new health clinic, model 1 seems the most suitable because as the number of patients will increase, the payoffs will increase as well. With these payoffs, the healthcare clinic will be more efficient running and will be operating with more profitability.
There are a number of stakeholders involved with every business, and every decision of the stakeholders directly or indirectly impacts the business. There are basically two types of stakeholders i.e., internal and external. The internal stakeholders are the one who is directly linked to the company and are working for it. The external stakeholders are the environmental factors impacting and include the suppliers, customers, and government. All of these factors highly impact the performance and success of the company, and the company should work on getting quality employees, secure deals with good suppliers, and target a market with good potential. The quality management plan is highly essential for making quality assurance of products and services. The company should make use of proper quality management tools to make sure that everything is going according to the plan. The company should work on securing good deals with suppliers as it highly impacts the performance and income of the company. The company should follow the proper steps and guidelines to secure a good supplier. The rugby club is in the starting stages of its development. So, there are some issues that it needs to accept and some that it should solve. The rugby management should accept the issue related to parking problems or not having enough teams for the event as both of these can be improved gradually. But the management needs to solve some issues and firmly uproot them. The management should make sure that the referees are regularly coming to the games and are on time. They should make sure that there is no fight among teams and should promote fair play. They should stop the abusive behavior in and around play areas, and if someone is found in abusive activity, than he or she should be removed from the playing area.
