Statement of the Problem
Social networking has developed a great enthusiasm and zeal among the new generation. At the initial level, it has been seen that social media has been adopted by all age groups in India. The continuous rise in the smart phones and internet access speed has resulted in extensive use of social media and social networking and therefore they are considered as more useful (Shabir, Hameed, Safdar & Gilani, 2014). Earlier the use of social media was only limited to the businesses and corporate for the purpose of connecting the clients and customers and to pair with Facebook account or Twitter handling. Social media offers a number of opportunities such as access to videos, information, data, ability to express, extension of the social groups, learning new opportunities, maintaining relationship with friends and relatives etc. (Boyd, 2014). It is discussed in this research project assignment that the continuous increasing use of social media and various social networking sites by youth has helped a number of families and friends to come closer who are living in distant locations.

But on the other hand, the increasing use of social media however has another viewpoint also which includes the consequences and risk associated with the present youth of India. Social media possess the competence to effectively vanish all the boundaries anytime and anywhere (Strasburger, n.d. 2013). Therefore it has a direct impact upon the privacy by sharing a lot of data and information. People share unnecessary as well as false information about themselves and because of this; there are higher chances of getting exposed to the criminals or fraudsters. Internet and social media are tend to influence the new generation i.e. the youth of India on their psychological, emotional and social wellbeing. There are several adverse outcomes of using social media use such as cyber bullying, personal information being accessed by unknown person, sleep deprivation, exiting, online dating, outside influences of the various unknown third party groups for financial help, unsuitable digital content, limited face to face connections and low social interaction (Valkenburg, Peter & Schouten, 2006). The continuously increasing use of social media in India has impacted the lives of Indian youth in such a way that in present scenario they cannot imagine their life without all the social media sites and social networking. But the adverse effect and impact of the social media are nowhere less. Therefore in this research project assignment, there will be highlighted the key impact of social media on Indian youth (Kuppuswamy & Narayan, 2010).

In their useful for the upcoming researches which will be conducted by several other practitioners and researchers the research project assignment will be highly important and useful for recognizing the importance of impact of social media across India. There has also been identified several consequences and risk associated with the use of social media which has been discussed in the research study. Discussions about various social media platforms social networking sites their advantages and disadvantages has been discussed in the study which will highlight in what manner social media impact the youth of India. The research project assignment also plays a vital role in understanding new social media platforms which are continuously increasing their user base and grabbing the interest of the new generation of India (Livingstone & Drotner, 2012).

Conceptual framework: Analysis of the literature
Bhardwaj presented that the use of social media was first limited to business promotions and corporate but since social media being an online collaborative platform it possesses the power to impact the businesses as well as the cultures (Bhardwaj, Avasthi & Goundar, 2017). This further enhanced to professional group, peer bodies and community sector which can successfully use this for their online businesses. Author explain that there are several positive as well as negative aspects of social media upon the Indian youth. The first major positive aspect is related to the education as it supports in better communication as well as collaboration among the students and teachers. The students get an access to the various online resources and therefore learn better and in a faster manner. The grades of the students also get improved as well as the absenteeism got reduced in the online sessions (Bhardwaj, Avasthi & Goundar, 2017). There are several school assignments and education topics which are being usually discussed on the various social media platforms which help the students to give additional information and knowledge. The second key positive aspect of social media highlighted by the author is awareness. It helps the new generation or the Indian youth to get aware about the information, breaking news and various other reliable information. With the help of social media, there is fast sharing and access of the news and various other important information (Kuppuswamy & Narayan, 2010).

On the other hand, several researchers and authors have highlighted the several negative aspects of taking use of social media by the youth and new generation. Lack of privacy is one of the major issue or risk associated with the usage of social media. Young individuals usually share their personal information on the various online sites and social media platforms without being aware and getting knowledge of the privacy policies (Strasburger, n.d. 2013). The third parties tend to misuse this data. The users or the youth also get vulnerable to crime. There initiated unauthorized sharing of the data which leads to loss of potential income. Hacking, identity theft, ransomware and phishing are some of the most common cyber-attacks or issues faced by the people while using social media (Bhardwaj, Avasthi & Goundar, 2017). There is excessive waste of time of the young individuals as they are involved in continuous browsing and keep posting on online platforms. This distracted them from their work and resulted in waste of time and energy (Valkenburg, Peter & Schouten, 2006).

The next major negative aspects highlighted by the authors is cyberbullying. There are sending of threatening or intimidating messages to the people through electronic communication. It also resulted in emotional trauma which force people to commit suicide (Seargeant & Tagg, 2014). The increased use of social media also resulted in personality and brain disorders such as addictive behaviors, narcissistic tendencies, poor social skills and various other emotional issues that results in loneliness, anxiety and depression (Siddiqui & Singh, 2016). Because of decreased face-to-face interaction, the new generation feels isolated and though there are higher risks of eating disorders, low self-esteem and depression (Kuppuswamy & Narayan, 2010). There are also several cases of spread of fake and false rumors and unreliable information which misinformed the users (Barman-Adhikari, Rice, Bender, Lengnick-Hall, Yoshioka-Maxwell & Rhoades, 2016).

Methodology and Secondary Data
This part of the paper will offer you a complete overview of the research methodology which has been used in this particular study. It provides the entire description of the several methods and tools which has been used for sampling data collection and data analysis it also highlight be different ethical considerations in Association with this research undertaken.

Data collection method
For this particular research there has been used basically to different methods that include quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative research method includes the primary data and the qualitative research method includes the secondary data. There are several research studies that take use of both quantitative as well as quantitative to fetch effective results because both of them are equally vital for analyzing the data. There are some of the specific reasons because of which there has been used both the methods in the research undertaken:

Quantitative Method Qualitative Method
  • The main aim of taking use of quantitative method is for verification of data and testing
  • The primary emphasis in the quantitative data is upon the social events and facts
  • There is used a critical as well as logical approach while dealing with the data
  • There is maintained some kind of distant from the data as well as the nature of the research is objective
  • There are used hypothesis testing in this form of research
  • It is completely result oriented research
  • The main aim of the qualitative method is upon comprehension of the data
  • The primary emphasis of qualitative data is upon understanding the various viewpoints and thoughts of the respondents
  • In the qualitative research the approach used is rational and interpretational
  • The nature of the search is subjective as well as there is closeness towards the data
  • There are no kind of hypothesis testing in qualitative research
  • the complete the search is explorative as well as process oriented

There are a number of ways by which the data can be fetched or collect such as interview, survey, observation, etc. in this particular study there will be used interviews as the primary method of Data Collection. Interview of advocacy groups, counselors and youth will be taken by the means of face to face interview or telephonic interview. The question I will be provided to the youth of India.

For answering the research questions there will be taken use of structured interview with open ended questions. The key reason for selecting this method is to fetch the accurate an appropriate insight opinion and view of the respondents as well as it also support the identification of the info which lacks in various other researches (Hew & Cheung, 2012). They will also be taken use of qualitative method which comprises of the analysis of the research interview questions as there is a need of broader aspect for achieving better results. The India in the selection of interview method is to collect the debtor and broader set of information. An analysis would be performed upon the data collected by the questionnaire so that it can help the Indian youth to overcome the negative aspects of using social media.

Sampling procedure: There will be performed structure interview by getting the responses from various direct talks to you its advocacy groups and counselors. The am behind performing such interviews is to get deep and complete knowledge of the direct impact post by the social media on the Indian youth.

Data analysis technique: The data which has been collected from the structured interview conducted as well as from the various secondary data sources will be analyzed through a Jig jaw puzzle data analysis technique. In such technique there will be a form of symmetry in the data collected so that meaningful conclusion can be drawn by the readers and the other searches from the analysis of the study. The data collected will also be analyzed by the means of qualitative approach so that correct insights and viewpoints can also be taken with an overall concluding response.

Ethical consideration: There are certain ethical considerations which are associated with every research undertaken. Similarly, in this research also there is some kind of ethical consideration associated. It has been observed that there is less objectivity due to the fact that the interviews which have been taken are of Limited number of people and not of a large population as sample. As well as the data collected is also mainly from the secondary sources and ethers the correct and accurate statement cannot be gained from such sources. Hence from the ethical aspect it has been analyzed that the desert and views are not much considerable.
