Business project management combines information technologies with government technologies in order to deliver a beneficial output. There are three pillars of BPM which are technology, people and processes that are vital to satisfy the demands of the stakeholders. On the other hand, the IoT project aimed to fit temperature sensors in the cool rooms, cookers and stores, where KFC used an iterative approach to improve their product sourcing that can ultimately increase their additional sales. They considered the four drivers of BPM which are increased productivity and quality, reduced costs and risks to deliver a project robust capability through their SQL server that will be required to ingest processed data in their software (Yu et al. 2018). Considering such approaches in BPM, the organization can drive up their costs and improve their customer services through the concept of cloud-based data lake Snowflake. With the help of BPM processes, KFC has also transformed their demand-driven industry to serve all customers round the chain through inventory sourcing by IoT sensors.
On the contrary, the business process of the IoT sensor project was undergone through an intricate designing phase where customer’s data was gathered from the mParticle platform in order to segment the digital customer base rapidly. Creation of a functional business model through the combined force of as-is and to-be mapping can revolve around the business intelligence of KFC in the need to increase the visibility around the world and store network through operational reporting. Through such business process mapping of as-if and to-be, KFC has also transformed an outdated paper management system into a lean business system that can increase agility in their operational efficiency and save additional resources and money due to effective decision-making capabilities of the mapping chain. However, automation of business processes through IoT sensors through the process mapping can reduce the confrontation of bad service, frustration level of employees and financial difficulties that may emerge during their mapping phase of a business project (Nicholas & Steyn, 2020).
Critical analysis on two mappings
Project mappings can be widely used around the business process of KFC for their upcoming project on deploying IoT sensors throughout their stores. Involvement of as-if mapping is good for the existing business process of KFC where they will be able to create a solid foundation in the organization’s chain through large integration of sensory networks. The as-if mapping phase will let KFC project managers get an accurate view of the project workflow with the focus on risk mitigation plans and closely monitoring each and every activity set. To improve the current digital platform and information system with latest upgradation, KFC can take account of these as-is project mapping in order to reveal their track on success factors. The cost of not accessing the mapping phase in the project management of IoT sensors can incur great costs and can be expensive without the implications of as-if and to-be approaches (Aiyer, Panigrahi & Das, 2018).
